This is a cutie - I also have the Easter design in this series - you'll probably see it later this month.

This past week with my Dad's help, I've taken down all the bird houses that were occupied last year.  Cleaned out all the nesting material, and washed them in a hot water / soap / bleach solution and set them out to dry.

Parvati had to give them a look-over, because that's what cats do.

Here are some of the houses the Violet-green Swallows used last year ready to rehang. It is none too soon to do so as the birds will be back to check things out by mid-month.

And me, being me, I have three new houses which we put up.  The two on the left are for smaller birds like nuthatches or chickadees.  The house on the left is a platform for Barn Swallows.  We shall see what this nesting season brings.  Stay tuned!

After all that hard work, it's time for a nap in the March sunshine.

It's never too early to celebrate the luck of the Irish. Wow that looks like a big job cleaning out all those birdhouses. We once bought a home that had a bird building in the backyard. It was as big as a playhouse but for birds. Let me tell you I cleaned forever to get that looking good again. RJ

Yay--you finished well before the holiday! I look forward to seeing Easter! Great birdhouses! I have news! I put up a bluebird house about 10 days ago, and within 5 days, Chickadees were building a nest in it! I don't know too much about their nesting habits and so on, so will be reading up on it... So excited tho!
