I See the Moon

Design - "Bunny Under the Moon"
Book - "Cross Stitch Patterns for Mother Goose's Words of Wit & Wisdom"
Designer - Tedd Arnold
Fabric - called for Aida not sure what I used
Fibers - DMC
Started - December 1993
Completed - February 1994

This is the only photo I have of "Bunny Under the Moon".  My oldest nephew was born in May of 1992 and I gave this to him in February of 1994. It was a challenge to stitch.  The plaid background was pretty intense as were all the blades of grass.

I was thrilled to finally see three Violet-Green Swallows flying about on Sunday morning.  March 29th is by far the latest return ever for this species.  I was beginning to wonder if they were going to come back as they'd been seen elsewhere since mid-March.  I hope to get a photo or two soon.

Bushtit!

Two at the feeder.

Then there were four.

Another close-up.

Chestnut-backed Chickadee

Black-capped Chickadee

Golden-crowned Sparrow

Towhee

California Quail couple.

Counting Birds and Bunnies

Design - "Welcome Spring" (freebie)
Designer - Sub Rosa
Fabric - 32 count linen
Fibers - DMC - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 27 April 2015
Completed - 29 April 2015

I used DMC 640, 987, 3722, 3727 to stitch this.
As I am seeing more bunnies out and about, this is a great stitch to feature.

I think there are probably four Downy Woodpeckers.

This is an adult male.

In flight

And at a suet feeder.

And here's a female.

Two together - male on left, female on right.

This has the look of a young male to me - one who fledged last summer.

He's shorter and fatter...

...and the red on his head tends to be ruffled.

This photo proves there are two males.

Sundays Hummers

The Rufous Humming birds appear to be AWOL.  Maybe the one's I saw earlier were migrants heading further north.

So it's an All Anna's Show this Sunday.

Female Anna's

Male Anna's

Saturday's Critters

A fairly typical week in Critterland.

Lots of gray squirrel activity.

A couple of bunnies too.

And a small group of deer.

A Bunny and Some Birds

Design - "Happy Bunny Bunny Day"
Designer - The Trilogy
Fabric - 32 count Dirty Belfast linen
Fibers - GAST & WDW 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 21 March 2012
Completed - 31 March 2012

All these years later, I'm still very pleased with this bounding bunny.

The other evening I chanced to see a fairly large group of crows headed home.

The little Bushtits continue to amuse me.

I was happy to have a photo or to NOT taken at the feeder, showing them in "natural" habitat.

A Chestnut Chickadee with a tiny bite to eat.

One of my male Downy Woodpeckers.

Most mornings at least two Downys come to the feeder...

..most often a male and a female, though they keep their distance.
