Sunday's Hummingbirds

I got this hummingbird stake as a Christmas gift.  The wings move in the wind.

For several days I watched a female Anna's Hummingbird grab bits of organic nesting material and fly away with it.

Hummers use spiderweb silk and moss...

...and I guess cotton!

I found this surprising... 

...but as it happened for several days running, I think she was serious about using the cotton as nesting material.

She not only worked on her nest...

...but also stopped by for a drink.

I did see a male Rufous Hummingbird.

A bright and shiny guy.

Rufous can be confusing to ID.

I think this is a young male.

This though, with the green, is a female Rufous.

See the green?

Anna's are easier to ID.

Weirdly I've not seen a male Anna's in a while.

This Rufous is enjoying an agastache.

Based on the color on the throat, I'm thinking a young male bird.
