Back in June my Mom and I took a bus trip up to Portland with the Hardy Plant Group. The group visited a private garden called Old Germantown Road Gardens.
Bruce and Jerry began gardening here 24 years ago. The garden is on a steep slope and goes from bright sun to deep shade.
It is lovely.
There is a small pond.
The Giant Himalayan Lilies (Cardiocrinum giganteum) were in bloom and their scent wafted throughout the garden.
It is a thoughtful garden with benches and pots and garden art placed 'just so'.
And it is a wildlife friendly garden too.
There were lots of 'hot' plants in yellows, and oranges, and reds.
Part of the garden is a 'dry' garden with cacti...
..and this way cool looking plant!
The house looks down over a traditional English-style border.
In June the border was replete with delphiniums and lilies.
Pastel Exuberance!
Their green house was full of tender exotic plants.
And like all good gardens, Old Germantown Roads Garden came complete with a Garden Cat!

The Hardy Plant Group--love it!! I'll bet there is a group for every type of plant out your way, Beth, with your wonderful growing conditions.
