I dove into my boxes of stitched pieces, and winnowed it down to the 10 in the collage above. I've been to the framers and now await the finished projects.
I am taking my walks early in the morning to beat the heat. Even though July has just begun, the outside world resembles August.
The meadows are becoming weedy with thistle and dandelions.
The daisies are done and have been replaced with Queen Anne's Lace.
I think this must be a clover.
Many things are brown and spent - their growing cycle done for the year including Rabbit's Foot Clover (Trifolium arvense).
In amidst the clover Common Centaury (Centaurium umbellatum) blooms.
The wild Iris have set seed.
The seed pods are ripe and have split open. The seeds are ready to spill out and, with a bit of luck, there will be new Iris plants next spring.
The seeds of the Cow's Parsnip shimmer and shake off in the wind.
We will soon be picking blackberries.
I've not yet been able to identify this wildflower / weed!
Most of the Bitter Cherries have been gleaned by busy birds and chipmunks.
The Camas too have set seeds - I am hopeful our patch will grow incrementally.
Tiny buds on the Oaks foretell of acorns yet to be.
Down at the edge of the Bog Creek, the Horsetails remain green and lush.
The last of the Ocean Spray is in bloom. I will miss its frothy exuberance.

Looking forward to seeing your framing. I especially love the HIH Santa.
Oh what great pieces to have framed.
It is always exciting to have pieces framed... and then comes the waiting... It is like August here also... hot, sticky humid... Sigh...
That's a wonderful group for framing! You must show us when you get them back!
Your photos do look like Fall is on it's way....maybe it's just been so hot and dry! I'm actually ready for the cooler Fall weather, myself!
I always enjoy your early morning walks! Our world also looks like late August.
Can't wait to see all those pretties framed up, Beth. I especially like the Drawn Thread birds finish. It is so strange how you are having such heat and we're just the opposite. It only got to 71 today! And I'm so sick of rain, I could scream!!
I am looking forward to seeing what framed you chose for these wonderful pieces.
