Wednesday's Walk

We are under a heat and fire danger advisory - it's best that we get outside as early as possible.

Based on how often my father has had to top off the water we've set out, we might have some interesting trail camera photos.

While Ocean Spray is gloriously shiny white when newly blooming, I like the taupe color it comes as it ages.

Turkey Tail mushrooms.

A big group of them.

Cascara fruit

These are a favorite of Cedar Waxwings, so they must not yet be ripe.

Lots of taupe at the end of August.
Cow's Parsnip

Ninebark

Reeds

Osier Dogwood

Willow

Vine Maple

An explosion of Vine Maple at the edge of the Big Creek.

Horsetails - always a sign of a damp or moist place.

Looks like we are going to have a good crop of acorns this fall.

And, finally, a good crop of blackberries!

The blackberries look super. We have an abundance of acorns this year so the deer and squirrels seem to be happy.

I really love the turkey tail mushroom! Yesterday was hot here too but as I write this I hear some lovely raindrops!
