I stitched two pairs of these hotpads as Christmas gifts.
I am guessing late 1980's / early 1990's.
I still think they are kinda' cute.

Some interesting bird action yesterday.  A flock of 15-20 gray hawks flew overhead very early in the morning.  Though I had my camera, I did not take a picture as I thought they were Band-tailed Pigeons.  But after watching the pigeons later in the day, I came to the realization that I'd seen a group of migrating hawks!  Something I'll probably never see again, darn it!
Also heard a group of Evening Grosbeaks talking away at the edge of the forest for 10-15 minutes, but never saw the birds.

The weather is still warm enough that the birds are bathing.

Recently a small Song Sparrow decided the small pool atop our large fountain made for a perfect bathtub.

Just Sparrow Sized!
The Sparrow could float...

...or stand...

...and yet have plenty of water to splash about.

So refreshing!

Clean feathers = Happy Bird!

Why is it that a bird having a bath is such fun to see? This afternoon when I was collecting my son from his volunteering stint I noticed a magpie having a great time bathing in an overflowing drain. It was a joy to watch.

Oooo, cool. Migrating hawks. That;s wonderful as is your sparrow bath (maybe you should hang out little towels for him) and your geese :)

I remember that I loved to watch Gracie, my little Hahn's Macaw, take a bath. She LOVED the water!! She made little happy sounds as she splashed around in it... it was such fun to watch! On a different note, yesterday my husband saw a woodpecker pecking away in his shed but when I came out, it flew away. Have to search what kind it was... he said it was green? Off to check it out... Hugs!

It's great seeing your flash back stitching. The sparrows around here love to splash in the water too.

I still remember when almost every design had to have a goose or a teddy bear in it--and the colors always seemed to be slate blue and mauve!!

Love the bathing sparrow photos :)

Alma Lynn. Wow. That does bring back some memories. These designs always have the best shading on them, by which I mean they were tedious to stitch. I kinda miss the geese themes though.
