I have enjoyed our cooler weather - we even had 1/2" of rain a few days ago.  But this week it looks like we'll have one last summer heat blast on Tuesday and Wednesday.

As we transition from summer to fall, the hawks have returned.  This Cooper's Hawk has been in the backyard for several days running.  I think it got a Mourning Dove one day.  I know everyone has to eat, but still...

While most of the Black-headed Grosbeaks seem to have left,

...they've been replaced by lots of young Juncos.

They're pretty cute!

One morning I was gifted with a male Wilson's Warbler.

They flit about so much that photographing them is difficult.  This one allowed me to take a couple of photos before darting away.

What a fun stitch full of tiny sailboats! The Cooper's Hawk looks so handsome. That male Wilson's Warbler is a pretty colored bird. The Juncos are adorable; well, at least the ones you featured.

Beautiful pictures. Yes, hawks need to eat too, but it's nicer for us not to know about it. lol!
