I saw a Red-breasted Sapsucker, but was not able to get a photo. 

I did manage a couple clicks of this male Hairy Woodpecker.

Yes, you!

But more exciting still...

I hear a Pileated Woodpecker"talking" most mornings and evenings.

This day I got to see it! 

And it came in even closer! 

Such a thrill!

This is a male. I've seen two birds flying overhead, so I'm pretty sure there's a pair in the area.

Migration in the Willamette Valley includes Swainson's Thrushes and several Warblers.

That said, first off here's a year-around bird.

A Red-breasted Nuthatch

"Howdy!"

One recent morning I had four or five sightings of Black-throated Gray Warblers.

They are one of the warblers that are on the move to winter grounds.

I had one or two that hung out until mid-summer.

These guys are all migrants. 

Look at that!  A clear shot of the bird!

This is more typical a leaf in the way. 

Or behind branches.

Safe journey little birds!

I am hearing and / or seeing a Western Tanager most mornings.

These birds will so be headed south...

...so I'm enjoying our remaining time together.

I think this is a young bird - it has the faintest bit of color on the front of it head. 

Can you see it?

It was a bit distant...

...so the photos aren't great.

The off it flew.

I had another sighting.

Even more distant.

Made it difficult to photograpg.

This one is not too bad.

Singing

I have both House Finches and Purple Finches.

They can be hard to tell apart.

This is a House Finch couple.

This is a Purple Finch couple.

The color on the male is much more saturated and the female has a white eye brow.

He should be called a Raspberry Finch.

Back to singing.

One of the Chickadee parents bring food to nestlings.

No time to sing for this bird!
