Returning for the winter

I had my first sighting of a Golden-crowned Sparrow.

They've been gone spring / summer, but have now returned and will winter here.

It's nice to have them back.

And while the Juncos did not leave per say, there were far fewer of them this summer. 

The numbers are increasing and this winter I'll have a couple of dozen birds.

And now the crows are molting - such a pinhead!

The Steller's Jays have mostly recovered from their molt.

They look reasonable handsome once again.

Head feathers are still a bit sparce.

A special visitor!

A don't often get White-breast Nuthatches at the feeders.

This one thought it might like a bit of a peanut or two.

The gray, the black, and the white - such a pure white.

I was fortunate that it stayed put and allowed me to take a series of photos.

I think this is a sweet design.  I like Noah's sash and his sandals.  I had trouble with his eyes and finally ditched the French knots for straight stitches.

 Marvelous Migration  continues.

A wonderfully bright Wilson's Warbler.

I'm not sure that I saw one all summer long.

But this guy more than made up for it. 

So bright and cheery.

I'm fortunate to have been able to snap off a few photos.
