But this guy found some suet and was active at the back of the house.

Typical Nuthatch pose

Got a BIG bite

Bigger birds.

The crows

They've figured out that if they bring peanuts in the shell to this birdbath - plastic over cement.

It's hard enough that they can crack open the peanuts.

And yes, there are several Band-tailed Pigeons about the place.

Surprise Visitor

A surprise visitor showed up yesterday.

I didn't get very good photos, as I was inside.

But anyway, it was a male Acorn Woodpecker.

Doing its woodpecker thing.

Here's the best shot.

It appeared to be alone, but as they hang out in a group, I'm sure there are others nearby.

What's up little one?

Are you looking at our winter-flowering clematis  -Clematis cirrhosa cultivars, 'Wisley Cream'?

Yes you are!

It has hundreds and hundreds of blossom right now.

In September the plant looked like it was dying (as it does every year) and now look at it!

A hummingbird's delight.

There's certainly plenty to eat.

It's kind of cool to have a plant the hummers like in full bloom in December.

Good eating little one.
