Tuesday's Birds

I did not get as much done on this as I'd hoped. The past week and a half I've been bobbing back and forth from cat-sitting to home and back again.  Maybe this week will see some further progress.

I was able to take a few photos of my backyard birds.

This Spotted Towhee was singing his heart out.

I had a male Brown-headed Cowbird spot by briefly.

I think the California Scrub Jays have raised their families.

I'm now seeing 3 and 4 birds instead of the usual 1 or two.

Lots of Steller's Jays too.

I think there are 2 or 3 pairs of Lesser Goldfinches.

Here's a Mourning Dove. I now see them daily.

I have 3 or 4 pairs of Black-headed Grosbeaks.
This is a female.

And here's the male.

On the Grosbeak front, the best news is that at least one pair of Evening Grosbeaks has remained and will most probably nest and raise a family here.

Speaking of babies...here's a photo of a newly fledged Oregon Junco.  I wish I'd been able to get a photo of the parent feeding it.

I always think that the little fledged birds are so sweet. We're currently airing Springwatch every evening and it's full of young birds.

Can't wait to see the next few blogposts showing the Redwing Blackbird stitch... bet it is lovely! Boy, Spring is really bringing you some beauties! The Black-headed Grosbeaks are a treat to see! And maybe the Evenings are nesting there... cool! I saw a male and female Towhee in the neighbor's yard earlier this spring, so maybe they had babies. Somewhere. Love the baby Junco!! Wow! I have been working on my bird pictures to post... SOOOO many! This week... maybe? Thank you for sharing with us! Hugs!
