It's May Day!

Design - "May Day" (freebie)
Designer - Sub Rosa
Fabric - 32 count dyed Cashel linen
Fibers - DMC - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 30 April 2015
Completed - 30 April 2015

This sweet little design jumped to the head of the line.  I used DMC 444, 535, 931, 987, and 3755.

While I've been able to thwart the Band-tailed Pigeons, the Starlings are still winning at the Feeder Game. I have far more Starlings eating suet than I do Flickers.  I've added an 'upside down" suet feeder and the Starlings have figured out how to use it.  I also have an suet feeder in a larger cage, and once again the Starlings are able to access it.

I hate to remove the suet feeders as I enjoy the Flickers.

This female was working on the ground and I was able to catch her bright orange tail feathers.

On a brighter note, the Tree Swallows and Violet-green Swallows seem to be able to coexist in relative harmony. (Tree Swallow on the left, Violet-green Swallow on the right).

A pair of Tree Swallows - female on the left, male on the right.

A pair of Violet-green Swallows - female on the left, male on the right.

Tree Swallow house-hunting.

"Honey, I think we're going to have to re-carpet the living room!"

Terrible photo, but as you can see, the Stellar's Jay has been taking long dried grasses to build a nest for the last couple of days.

Sorry about your problem with the starlings. Guess they are clever birds. Love your new header btw! Love the sweet May stitch too!

Lovely May header, such a variety of designs. I've got the PS crow design sitting and seeing it included makes me want to stitch it:-)

Sorry Beth to have been so negligent in commenting lately. Your header is magnificent! I have to go back and drool some more!
The flickers are so gorgeous. I have so enjoyed the house hunting of the swallows.
Happy May Day!

May Day is a cute little stitch. I wish we could go back to thinking about flowers on May Day instead of rioting as they do every May Day in Seattle!

May Day is a cute little piece. We had a May basket delivered to the library by some sweet little girls. :) It's a lost art I think.

Dang starlings... We ended up closing all four sides in, so they could not hang on the wire cage... The last side is screwed in to the rest of the wood frame box, and can be removed to replace the suet. They definitely do NOT like hanging to eat, and if they do attempt it, it it one or two nibbles and they give up! I will show on the blog soon...
