I've finished up all four of the Little Stitcher's Calendar birds, so I think I'll work on a couple more of Heartstring Samplery's birds - the finches are up next I'm thinking.
I had a post all ready for Friday, but then at 3:57pm on Thursday afternoon...
...a motion outside caught my eye - I looked up and out the family room door to see this!
This healthy, glossy bear had pulled over the red shepherd's hook and was gorging on peanuts and sunflower chips.
Yummy.
He/she paid me no mind when I stepped out on the back patio for a closer look.
Yes, I'm watching you bear.
You can see the bear is not wanting for calories - a handsome profile shot.
It looks like he is growling here, but he never made a sound.
One last look before he trotted off.
I guess I'm going to have to turn on the motion-detector water sprinkler during the day as well as the night.

Wow!! So I guess they don't like to have surprise showers, huh? lol! Hope turning on those motion detector sprinklers works!
Wow! Seems to be the ONLY word to express my shock! That is one HUGE bear! Guess the feeders were quiet during and after that episode? I really hope the sprinklers work, IF there is a next time! Wow!
Oh Beth! Your bear photos are fabulous. He/she looks very healthy with the glossy coat. I hope the sprinkler system helps. Enjoy your day!
Holy Cow err Bear! And to think I find it exciting to see a deer!
That looks like one happy healthy bear!! We have them but to my knowledge, none of my neighbors have seen one during the day and acting quite that bold. You must have been very surprised!!
Your Jays are gorgeous, Beth. Your bird finish is darling. Looks very true to life.

He's obviously been finding food very easily--he really does look healthy! We are thinking about the motion detector sprinklers to keep the deer away from our patio plants--hope it works :)
That is a seriously healthy-looking bear! Hope he doesn't decide your feeders are the best local lunch spot!
