After having seen White Pelicans for the first time this winter, it's pretty cool to have a stitch that features one!

I'm also featuring woodpeckers.

I had a bit more action this past week, including to Hairy Woodpeckers, a male and female, haning out in this tree.

The female was kind enough to come to the feeders a couple of times.

I'm hopeful the male will follow suit.

The Flickers were more visible this week as well.

A male.

A young male I think.

Can you see the faintest of mustaches?

I did spy the Acorn Woodpeckers at work on their granary tree.

The male also finally showed up at the front feeder.

Bring the wife and kids please!

I heard the slow, loud 'thunk, thunk, thunk' of a Pileated Woodpecker at work.

And I found her! This was a good test for my new camera as the bird was quite distant and the light was poor - a mix of sun and shadow.

Here you can see her working away on a typical long rectangular hole.

If it is big and deep enough, it will be a home for someone next spring.

Wow! I am impressed by the Pileated making a nesting hole in a tree by you. It is obviously a dead tree, as only the Red-Cockaded Woodpeckers nest in live trees, but looks like it still has moss growing on it. Pretty cool shots with your new camera! I know how high and far up they can be! Hugs!

Your new camera takes great photos, Beth--how neat that you found the "handiwork" of the Pileated Woodpecker! What kind of camera did you end up purchasing?

Cute little August stitch!

Great blog header - love the real veggies tucked in with the stitched ones. And that's a sweet little lighthouse piece.

Such a variety of woodpeckers! Beautiful pictures. :)

I do like the lighthouse and pelican stitch. It's always nice to see your woodpeckers. I am hearing them more than seeing them.
