July is a wonderful time for hummingbirds.
Lots to eat...
Lots to fight over!
They are little birds with BIG personalities!
So many different looks too as they groom and chatter.
Fat and fluffy.
Slim and sleek.
Always ready to do battle.
Never truly at rest.
Continually looking...
...and looking some more.
This is about as close as two birds ever get.
Size comparison - Rufous Hummingbird and White-crowned Sparrow.
Two battling blurs of birds!
Watching atop the newly planted Japanese Maple.
The Oriental Lilies also make nice observation posts!
One year ago today Mom and I visited the ancestral home of the Churchill family - Blenheim!

Your photography of one of my fav birds is outstanding!! Thanks for sharing!
L♥Ve! Okay, I will ask you, how do you not get a problem with wasps. Every time I have tried to hang a feeder for the hummers, the wasps come like crazy! And I have tried two different kinds of nectar feeders.
Sweet birds x
Just wonderful photos of those cute little birda11
I love hummingbirds! Such great pics!
Amazing! The hummers in my yard never perch long enough for me to snap a pic.
I've always loved hummingbirds! I usually see the shiny green ones but I've never seen the pinkish ones--they are lovely!
Great photos and commentary on hummers!
Lovely photos Beth, the hummingbirds are such bonnie birds, I never tire of seeing them. I have fond memories of staying on the caravan site within walking distance of Blenheim and Woodstock - a nice part of the country.
