It's a Woodpecker Wonderland.

I'm going through 10 or more suet cakes in a week's time.

In part because the Hairy Woodpeckers have fledged.
Dad on the left and his son on the right.

Now son on the left, Dad on the right.

Isn't he adorable?

Watching and learning.

Late in May I watched three, yes three Acorn Woodpeckers. There was a second male, but my pair of birds spent most of the day showing their displeasure and trying to run him off.  This photo was taken just a couple of days ago and once again there were three birds, though I only managed to capture two.

Here's a little female Downy Woodpecker.

She was eating... 

...next to a larger male Hairy Woodpecker.

Suet is yummy!
