Birds of Color

This is not a bird I'm going to ever see probably.  The Little Stitcher's July bird is a Blue Chaffinch and it resides in the Canary Islands.  Look at those blues - how can I not stitch it?

I do have some colorful birds here that I can enjoy.

As of Friday, I still had three active Violet-green Swallow houses.

I think the resident(s) of this house will be the first to fledge.

Each time I look, someone is peering out.

And sticking there head out further...

...and further

...and further still!

This looks like a newly fledged Violet-green Swallow - all ruffled and rumpled.
But maybe it's just a tired Mom!

As the Violet-green Moms are finishing up, the American Goldfinch potential Moms are just getting started.

They are finally gather nesting material and flying off with it.

I love seeing the little ones gathering nesting material - it looks so soft for their nests.

That will be a pretty stitch, Beth--love anything with blue... That is so kind of you to provide the nesting materials for the birds! I'm sure your yard is "the" place to be :)

It's so cool to see the babies looking out and to see new nest material being utilized!

We do have some beautiful birds right here in the NW but maybe this calls for a trip to the Canary Islands!

Beth, I do love those blues! I was thinking, "Ooh, look at those gorgeous colors!" even before I read your comment about loving those blues. Have fun with it!
