Flashy Guy

"I'd like to introduce a special friend of mine..."

"Mr. Anna's Hummingbird!"

I have seen my adult male hummingbird every day this week.

The light has been good allowing me to capture him in full living color.

He's started courting the females.  He flies straight up in the air, then dives down like a bullet, pulling out of the dive with a high-pitched chirp from his tail feathers.  If you've never seen this behavior, here's a video link

One day we were sitting on our deck and saw that courting behavior. At the time, we did not know what was going on! We thought we just had a hummingbird with a death wish. It is quite an amazing thing to see.
