Grrrrrrr!!!

Lots of r's in my "Grrr!" as i pulled out this Thanksgiving stitch to work on it, only to discover that it does not 'line up".  Some of the little leaf motifs are off one thread.  I haven't really figured out the what and why yet except that I think the top center motif might be culprit.  The dark grey linen threads are hard to count properly. Grrr!

On Thursday we had freezing rain for most of the day.

There was lots of bird activity, though no one 'special' (unusual) came by.

Here's a small group of House Finches...

As the freezing rain fell, the icicles got longer and longer.

All of the trees and shrubs were covered in ice.

It did not stop my Acorn Woodpecker.

I read somewhere that birds can slow the circulation to their feet so they don't get cold in weather like this.

A Song Sparrow.

A male Flicker and a Towhee in the lower left.  It looks like we are going to have more cold weather at the end of the week.  Stay tuned!

I also had difficulty stitching on that color fabric! Tho it was 40-count! Hated it! Going down to 32-count... I think that is the only other choice. I will try again, cause I really like the chalk ornaments! I have wondered about how the birds can sit on the frozen branches... Thanks for sharing that! I had a BIG day yesterday, and will try to blog about it tomorrow! TWELVE Lifers!! It was awesome! Hugs!

Hopefully you can "tweak" the pattern and not have to growl too loudly. You mustn't scare the wildlife!

I hate when that happens...one thread off. Sometimes it is not as bad as it first looks as in you can correct it simply without a lot of undoing. Wishing that is your case. Your frozen bird feeder looks like one of those pretty beaded lamp shades...so unusual. And the birds must be able to do something special because they hang around here in very very low below freezing temperatures. One of the bird guys said as long as they have food they can maintain their body heat. I'm in awe when you see how tiny those little feet are.

I'm so glad those poor birds had your wonderful feeders! Good luck with the design. It frustrates me when I can't find the problem!

You have the most incredible birds and wildlife. It's like living in the garden of Eden.

Am sure it was no fun at all for you or the birds, but the freezing rain made such pretty icicles on the feeder edges.

That's too bad about the stitches being off - I think darker linens are much harder to count and see the intersections of the threads.

I am enjoying the photos of the birds so much. In Texas our place got over run with Crazy Ants (yes they are a thing) and we have no birds, no squirrels no critters like we used to. It is very sad and I am hoping that they come up with a solution soon! Thanks for sharing your wildlife with me!
