November's Blog Header Revealed

Garden Grumbles and Cross Stitch Fumbles November 2016 Blog Header

Row #1: Padma and a turkey; Bent Creek, "Flatbed Turkey"; Heart in Hand, "Thanksgiving Sampler"; Solomon and Padma and turkeys.

Row #2: Bent Creek "Leaves", The Trilogy, "Happy Gobble Gobble Day"; Bent Creek, "Autumn Spice + White"; Bent Creek, "Tiny Tim Turkey"

Row #3: The Prairie Schooler, "A Prairie Year" - "November"; The Cricket Collection, "Thankful Kiss".

Row #4: Solomon and turkeys, Lizzie Kate, "Sampling Thanksgiving".

On to the birds.

One day last week a Sharp-shinned Hawk spent most of the day close to the feeders.  A dozen Steller's Jays mobbed the bird, but were unable to drive it off.

Yes, our deer fence provides a nice perch for a hawk!

I was delighted to see a small flock of Cedar Waxwings.

I am always glad to see these guys with their distinctive profile.

I'd like to amend our berm with more native plants with berries to attract these birds.

And here's a bird I do nothing to attract! A young European Starling.

How's this for a funny two-some?
An adult European Starling and a female Acorn Woodpecker.

We recently moved to a new home and my husband doesn't want me to feed the birds here. He says it makes too big of a mess. Are you constantly cleaning up under your feeders?

Like all of the stitched pieces in your November blog header, and REALLY love the pictures of the cats and the turkeys! Funny! They are apparently all fearless! I hope to see Cedar Waxwings again. So far, no grackles or such around...The two-some IS a funny sight to see!
