Autumn Bird and Summer Jeweled Bird

I have worked on "Happy Whoo Whoo Day" when time allows.  The problem is that time does not allow for much stitching.  Nonetheless this is going to be a charming autumn bird.

I don't often compose a blog post around just one bird.

But on Sunday morning this male Anna's Hummingbird put on a show.

The light was just right to capture the amazing colors of his iridescent head and gorget.

He displayed - bright and furious - as though it was May and he was courting.

Usually he is wary of me, and I cannot get very close.

But on Sunday, I could creep ever closer.

I never saw or heard another male hummingbird.

But something certainly stirring up this guy.

Fuchsia, and bronze, and copper, and green.

Some people think November is a dull-colored month.

I'd have to disagree!

Oh my goodness that Anna's is just beautiful. And surely deserves his own blogpost! Thanks for sharing. I read recently that they stay here in the Willamette Valley year-round!

Fantastic! I so rarely am able to capture the colors in their neck area because the light is usually behind them. Great post!
