For all the times I was battered and bruised by bags and briefcases and stiletto heels while navigating the Underground, those same Professional Commuters willing gave up their seat for my salt-and-pepper haired Mom, and even me when I was looking especially sweaty and red-faced!

We were the recipients of countless kindnesses during our stay here. So many people were willing to lend us a hand with directions or the use of their cell phone.  I will miss hearing "Lovely" as a response to almost anything and the up-lifting salute "Cheers!".

So long - farewell - it has been a most special time.

Your trip will probably be the closest I ever come to seeing all the sights you saw. How wonderful that you were able to spend such a special time with your mom.

It's been lovely to see the UK from a tourist point of view and to "visit" all the places you've seen that I've never been to. I've enjoyed every step with you Beth and I still can't believe our bad luck in timing back in July.

You should put a book together with your thoughts and photos Beth: your blogs during your trip have been wonderful. It would make a fantastic travel guide for those visiting the UK - and even some of us living here who haven't been to half the places you visited!!!
Hope you are back safe and sound in your home by the time you read this.
The UK will miss you xx
