A male Black-headed Grosbeak hanging out with a Hairy Woodpecker.

A male Brown-headed Cowbird.

They have a lovely, liquid song.

They lay their eggs in the nests of other birds.
Often much smaller birds end up raising this big Baby Huey offspring.

Not a great photo. I've been hearing the song, but this is my only photo of a Black-throated Gray Warbler.

Can you see the yellow with red/rust stripes?

Again a terrible photo - but pleased to see a Yellow Warbler.

The American Goldfinches have returned in force.

Close up

As have the Black-headed Grosbeaks.
Both male...

...and female.

And I can't get enough of the White-crowned Sparrows.

Such a handsome bird.

Mr. Owl is a pretty stitch. We have had brown headed cowbirds this year. I don't remember seeing them before. And we had our first Rose-breasted grosbeak this week.
