About once a week, I fill a small feeder with peanuts in the shell.
It takes the Steller's Jays less than 30 minutes to totally wipe out the stash of peanuts.
On Saturday morning they managed to eat /carry off the peanuts while at the same time fighting / mobbing a small Sharp-shinned Hawk.
The birds are fierce and tentacious.
You get a peanut!
You get at peanut!
Everyone gets a peanut!

Adorable owl stitch, Beth! The Stellar Jays have beautiful coloring. Can't believe they would take on a hawk!
