According in Wikipedia the correct name for this bird is Tenerife Blue Chaffinch and it is endemic to Tenerife highlands in The Canary Islands. It lives in Canary Island pine at an altitude of 3,600-6,660 feet. It certainly is a lovely bird. I hope efforts have been made to protect it and its habitat.
I have a blue bird too...
The Steller's Jay is not quite to bright a blue. They've begun to 'harvest' the hazelnuts - I've tried to get a photo, but they are fast!
Here's another of my bright birds - a male House Finch.
He was singing away.
Even a female American Goldfinch is a relatively bright bird.
With a bright orange breast, a Towhee qualifies too.
The Wilson's Warblers were AWOL during our 90+ weather, but returned when we had our first 80f day.
He is by far my brightest yellow bird - far outshines the goldfinches.
Yes you do!

Beth, way to go on your 'blue' bird finish! Such a pretty stitch! I'm with the Wilson's Warbler on the heat; I have disappeared within the confines of the A/C. Enjoy your Friday!
What beautiful birds! Stitched and real.
I love your new finish. I love his little blue legs. :)
Oh, I love the little blue bird! He's adorable!
Beautiful pictures and stitching.
Some lovely photos here and your cross stitch blue bird is excellent. Have a good weekend Diane
I've heard things have been very hot out your way, Beth! Interesting that the Warbler disappears during the heat. Do they just fly north or hide in the shade, I wonder?
Very pretty blue stitched bird--and a lovely Stellar Jay blue bird, too :)
Your stitching is so pretty!
I have house finches and towhees here in Mississippi!
(I think it’s a towhee!)
I wonder where that Wilson Warbler went when it was so hot?? I just might like to follow it. We are suppose to get very hot again next week!
Pretty finish but the star of this post is the Wilson's Warbler!
