This finish from 2016 is timely once again as sometime next week we are due for our first truly cold weather.  My mittens are ready!

And yet there are signs of spring...

The first of the daffodils have already popped up. They might get burned if the weather gets cold enough.

Clematis cirrhosa "Wisley Cream" is a winter blooming clematis. I think the plant must have several hundred buds / blossoms. It certainly is enjoyable to have something blooming profusely this time of year.

All the birds are Winter Birds! Here's a sparrow comparison for you.

Song Sparrow.
Note the gray stripes on the head and back and a dark beak.

Fox Sparrow.
Yellow beak, dark head and a bit larger bird.

Every morning the California Quail fly in for a breakfast gathering.

I count anywhere from 40 to over 60 birds most mornings.

Here's a trio puffed up against the morning chill.

These two young ladies were eating blackberry leaves.  Who knew?

You reminded me that I have spring bulbs to plant... still. Been hoping the squirrels would leave so they won't come behind me and dig them up again! I have seen the Song Sparrows and White-Throated here, not the Fox Sparrows yet! But, the temps are going to drop to 'seasonal' this weekend, so you never know! Wait till you see the birds I have seen, and photographed... I hope to post Sunday at the latest! Hugs!

The sparrows are so pretty. We are suppose to get very cold too. Plus I have the daffodils up a bit too.

So weird that your daffs are popping up. So many quail! Love those birds!

That clematis looks almost like a white fuchsia (is there such a thing?) - is it in your yard? So pretty. Daffodils in December - yikes.
