And We're Back (on line)!

While the power was off, the cats formed their own guild:
The Worshipful Order of the Camp Fire! They met regularly for naps.

We still have 4" of snow or so on the ground, but the temperatures have increased dramatically up to 50F or so for the day time high.  All our moisture is now in the form of plain old rain and the Weather Channel's attention has turned to other parts of the country. We do have some drifts of 2 feet of snow or more where the snow slide off the roof.  That will take quite some time to disappear and the cats and I will have to navigate that as we stroll around the perimeter of the house.

The deer were back today.

I think they look especially shaggy in contrast with the snow.

My little Downy came to the feeder bright and early.

My covey of Quail is pleased to access patches of bare ground once again.

They are like having a flock of small exotic chickens or guinea fowl.

I am pleased to be Back to Normal - electricity and heat and cable and internet.  Goodness, but we've come to rely on any number of things our great-grandparents did without in their day-to-day lives.

It will take me several days to get caught up answering emails and reading my Blog List.  Please bear with me and thanks for all your comments and encouraging words.

Glad that you have power again - such a basic need these days...

The cats definitely have the right idea, hope it warms up soon but at least you have power again. I thought of you this afternoon when I was collecting my son from college. The college is in a very rural area and I noticed two birds on a grassy area when I was driving through a small village on the way there. I slowed down on my return journey and took a better look - they looked like male black grouse. I was pleased to have caught a glimpse of them, they were pretty impressive.

I'm so glad you are back online with power and internet and everything. I know what not having power is like -- not fun. It's happened way too many times around here. I hope we all keep our power from here on out!

Your winter photos are actually very pretty. But as my poor friend in Chicago says, winter is no longer pretty! Glad to have you back!

Everyone needs cuddle time on snowy days. Your photography brings the best out of bad situations. Thanks for sharing.

Good news that things are running again. I wish our snow would melt as quick as yours and I'd love to see some grass too!

Does the WOCF have a secret handshake or password? Lol So glad that things are returning to normal for you.

I guess I should have read all of your posts before commenting on the last few! So glad you have your power back ~ we are so dependent on our electronics aren't we?

Good thing to have the power back! I hate it when the power goes off, you really appreciate it when you get it back.
