Sometime this month I hope to see some of the colorful spring / summer birds.

American Goldfinches

They will bring some much needed color to the feeders.

Mid-April is the earliest I see them.

Later still the Black-headed Grosbeaks should return.

Males first.

And then the females.

I love this stitchery and beautiful bird photos too! Interesting that the males arrive before the females. Our Orioles have arrived, but so very shy we hear them more than see them. The first day they arrived the male came to the hummingbird feeder and stayed longer than I had ever seen him do before. They must have flown along way that day and been very thirsty.
