Monday Musings

Design - "A-Wassailing" (kit)
Designer - Shakespeare's Peddler
Fabric - 40 count Vintage Meadow Rue Lakeside linen
Fibers - GAST - limited edition colors - 1 strand over 2 threads
Started - 23 December 2011
Completed - 29 December 2011

I loved stitching this - and looking at it again, I think it needs to be framed.

I am late with the last couple of posts.  Somehow I get totally wiped-out between Christmas and New Year's.

So without further ado, here are some of my Winter Birds.

An inquisitive Pine Siskin.

A male House Finch.
So pleased to have a group of eight birds after not seeing any since October.

The Chestnut-backed Chickadee is one of my favorite winter birds.

They prefer the canopy of a mature forest to raise their young, so I never see them in the spring and summer.

They interact well with the Black-capped Chickadees - no squabbling.

The Golden-crowned Sparrows do squabble!

And so do the Towhees.

I now have more Fox Sparrows than Song Sparrows.

Yes, that is a cute one...look forward to seeing it framed! LOVE the Chestnut-backed Chickadee! Did not know there was such a bird! They are so lovely, with all the color variations! No Towhees yet, and haven't seen the Fox Sparrows since early fall... Our weather is so different, not cold... keeping away some of the 'regulars'...

Beth, A Wassailing is such a great piece! Definitely should be framed!
I love the markings of the Chestnut-backed chickadees and the Towhees. I have not seen either in real life. Hope you had a great Christmas!

A wonderful stitched piece. And wow, so many different winter birds at your place. We also have winter birds here that usually only get here in winter.
