A Break in the Rain

After several days of rain, it was nice to see a bit of blue sky.

No one, but no one appreciates a sunny winter afternoon quite as much as a cat does.

Padma was far more interested in Vitamin D Absorption than Bunny Observation.

The Sharp-shinned Hawk though was observing plenty!
If you look closely at the top photo the bird is in the Big Leaf Maple tree on the left.

Someday, someday I'm going to manage to take a good photo of my little flock of Bushtits.

They are constantly and continually in motion and end up being little blurs of movement.

Thank goodness for more deliberate birds like my male Acorn Woodpecker.

Even the flitting Chickadees sit still once in a while.

I won't see much of them once the weather improves, so I'm going to enjoy them now.

Our Flickers have begun courting and their repertoire of sounds and calls seems to increase daily.

Friday afternoon around 4:00pm I was treated to the sound of a pair of Great Horned owls.  I'm not sure what subject was under discussion, but it lasted for over 30 minutes.

Yesterday I bought a seed cylinder to try in my domed feeder like you got. I'll let you know how it goes!!

Birdsong is so lovely to listen to. Some birds are so hard to take photos of - if they would only stay still:-)

So nice to see sunshine for a change - we're getting some of it here too at last. Lovely bird pictures.

That is one content cat!! We are in the midst of the switch from winter to spring birds as the Juncos have all but disappeared and the gold finches have returned - boy are they hungry!!! So cool about hearing the owls. We had a surprise the other day when an eagle flew over. I have seen them around but never near the house.

It's sunny here today, too, Beth--such a pleasant change from the gray cold winter days we've had for the past few months... Enjoy your weekend!

Your birds are so much more full of colour, the best we have here in UK is robins, my cats were sun bathing today, I love to watch them.

Ahh those cute chickadees and some sunshine for you at last. You have done some lovely stitching over the past few days.

The birds have been going crazy at the feeder today. They are saying we might get a bit of snow tomorrow. I wonder if they can sense that.

We have been getting nice weather. Our yard is still soaked but hopefully it will dry up soon. Of course the birds like it soggy because the worms are easier to find and pull out!

Great pictures Beth! We have just returned from vacation and one of our stops was to visit friends in Hilton Head. I was so excited to see a bluebird while we were there!
