Humming

Early each morning this male Anna's Hummingbird patrols his territory, a young Douglas Fir forest in front of our house.

He clicks and whirrs and chatters to let other hummers (and humans) know that they are not welcome.

The irridensent ruby colored feathers on his face and neck are another way he lets us know that He is the Man!

He is sporting Christmas colors.

See!

Male birds get all the gorgeous colours.

Oh my, he is so handsome with his Christmas colors!

I'm dreaming of a short & warm winter so the hummers come back to my area soon.

I'm pretty sure that we don't have any hummers hanging around here, but I did see some wrens and robins the other day! Just read the last 5 posts right now, and enjoyed them all! Each about such interesting subjects that I just love, of course! Not sure outdoor tree ornaments would last around here... Have a Happy New Year celebration! Hugs!
