Baskets of Color

By September the hanging baskets that dot downtown Eugene are exuberant cascades of color.

I always enjoy taking a closer look at the composition.

I think the Petunias are the 'basket thugs' - they seem to win out over whatever else they've been planted with.

Case in point - the Black-eyed Susan Vine has almost disappeared.

I liked this two-toned basket.

What's better than one basket?  Two baskets!

The baskets will be up for a couple of more weeks, then a frost will hit and down they will come until next Spring.

Oh, so pretty! They sure held up better than the baskets hanging in our downtown this year... someone there must give them lots of water :-)

Ours here are taken down already, and replaced with cornstalks tied to the lamp posts in preparation for our annual Fall Fair next weekend.

I've always wanted to do those baskets of flowers but they just never end up looking like that - I think it has something to do with the pots they put them in - they do look fabulous though.

Gorgeous baskets--they are looking super for this late in the season, although it's warm in Eugene so they probably last longer than here.
