Midweek Farmers' Market

Design - "Curio - Ladybug"
Designer - Heart in Hand
Fabric - 30 count WDW Red Pear
Fibers - DMC, GAST, & WDW - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 7 September 2012
Completed - 9 September 2012

It was fun to stitch this on Red Pear - it really pops!

On Tuesday my Mom and I visited the Farmers' Market.

It was a sunny, but cool afternoon.  The market was busy at lunch time.  I noticed lots of jurors on break had decided to walk over.

End of Summer vegetables included Oaxacan Chiles...

...and Asian Pears...

...and two kinds of Grapes.

I'm sold!

I think they're almost too pretty to eat.

And speaking of!  I think this Autumn color is as exuberant as any Spring display.

As threatened promised, I ordered the chicken and dumplings.  Oh but it was good.  Each bite had a bit of dumpling and a mound of shredded chicken.  It was so thick it was almost like a stew and had a bit of a kick - cayenne pepper perhaps?  Mom and I share the bowl and finished it off with a chocolate brownie from Eugene City Bakery.  A nice lunch to eat in the September sunshine while people-watching.

P.S. Bonnie asked me about the Halloween decorations on my
"I Can't Stay Away" post.  The nursery with the decorations is Gray's and their phone number is 541-345-1569.  Bonnie you are set up as in Google / Blogger as "no-reply" so I could not answer your questions directly.

Oh, that chicken and dumplings meal sounds wonderful, Beth. My grandma used to make them and I haven't had them since she passed away almost 30 years ago. Looks like a great farmer's market!

Cute little lady bug, too--it's fun to stitch on a colored fabric now and then, isn't it? I'm doing something on a pretty fall gold fabric now--really enjoying it.

Alabama Chicken and Dumplings in Oregon?? How cool is that!! Being from South Alabama myself, I can truly appreciate that :o)

Love your ladybug finish; I will have to stitch that one up pretty soon. And I loved the walk through the farmer's market...wish we had a one-stop shop like that around here.

I really love your Curio - Ladybug finish! That fabby color is scrumptious.

The farmer's market looks like it has the best items. I just can't get enough tomatoes. I was introduced to a variety called "celebrity" and they just might find a place in my garden next year.

What a cute ladybug. That market is still full of good things. I'm so going to miss the tomatoes soon. We came very close to a frost the other night. Today in the 80's!

Very cute ladybug. Quite possibly the only bug I don't freak out over. Lol

Honestly, I've never had chicken and dumplings - just wasn't in my mothers wheelhouse. Should probably try it one day though!!!
