January in February

Design - "A Bit of January" (Flip It Bits)
Designer - Lizzie Kate
Fabric - 28 count Country FrenchCafe Mocha
Fibers - GAST & WDW - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 31 January 2012
Completed - 1 Februay 2012

Better late than never, right? I got the chart in the mail a couple of days ago, and I had to stitch it!  French knots are the bane of cross stitching as far as I'm concerned.  I think I need to frog out the eyes and try...again.

Some recent bird sightings include...

An American Robin

A Disgruntled Sparrow

Cold California Quail

and a European Starling.

You should try doing a Danish knot instead. I always cheat by doing these as I am so bad at doing French knots.

Fabulous finish! I have always wanted to stitch this series. I especially love that the snowman looks like he is all bundled up against the cold! Eff those French knots I say, bring on the beads! I use Mill Hill petite black beads for things like eyes and buttons on snowmen, etc. Works like a charm.

Wasn't that little cutie fun to stitch, Beth? I just love his scarf blowing in the wind...

I don't like French knots either, but just do my best with them... After all lumps of coal on a real snowmen aren't uniform in size either :)

What a cute chubby snow guy! French knots are a problem child aren't they? Sometimes they come out great and other times - ggrrrrrr! LOVE the new header! have a great weekend -

Your french knot looks fine to me, I love them.

I've had this series since it came out, but I've yet to stitch it. Well done getting it completed in just a couple of days.

I love the American robin, I've never seen one before, just the regular one and I have a family of 4 that come into my garden and spend all day here.

Colonial knots instead maybe? I usually do those instead of french ones. He's a cutie no matter what. :)
