Spring Flowers Spring Bird

Design - "Sweet Violets"
Designer - Cedar Hill
Fabric - 28 count R & R Irish Cream linen
Fibers - DMC - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 20 April 2008
Completed - 31 May 2008

I changed the DMC colors for the violets as I thought the original choices were too blue and I wanted true lavender shades.

While we have Robins all year, in many parts of the US, their return is a sign of spring.

There were several stomping around the front yard this morning.

And doesn't the grass look green, green, green?

My father thinks it's too long and will probably mow today.

Are you having nice spring weather today?

Lovely violet piece! We have seen a few Robins here and more should be making their appearance. My husband commented this afternoon, he should get out and mow.

Our robins are year around birds. But it is especially nice to see them on the green grass!

Most Iowa robins fly south, but enough stay to make them not a reliable spring indicator. I go by red wing black birds and turkey vultures. When they arrive (they have!) it's spring. Oh also the fertilizer spreaders headed out to fields (they are!). This is not to say cold weather or snow is not possible, but at least it won't stay long.
