This and That

Walking down to the Big Birdfeeder...   

...I noticed fresh wood chips on the ground.

Looking at the Douglas fir, this is what I found.

The shape of the holes, and the location low on the tree lead me to believe this to be the work of a Pileated Woodpecker.

The grass is greening up.

The mosses glow.

Lots of seeds remain on the Big Leaf Maple.

Here's a look.

Our Amaryllis is in full bloom.

Hazel brush is ready for spring.

The fog lifts and the sun shines...

...and a bright blue sky appears.
Can you see who is up in the top of the tree on the right?

A male Flicker that's who!
