So way back into the archives we go for this bird stitch - clear back to 2001!

This little sampler features a bluebird and four different band stitches separate the rows of the alphabet. Maybe by posting this I'll get to see a bluebird.  I do have a bluebird house, but for the past two years the Starlings have used it.    

I did have another First of the Season Bird last week. 

An Olive-sided Flycatcher.

Flycatchers are great fun to watch.  They perch high atop a tree or snag.

They then dart off to snag a insect. 

And fly right back to their outlook post to await their next bite.

They are often active in late in the evening. 

Look at all my American Goldfinches - the reason for this post's title.

They are wonderful accents of color in the trees.

They gather at the feeders and the bird baths.  

On the left a Pine Siskin has joined the group.

This is a very weird year for Evening Grosbeaks.

Most days I only see a pair of birds.

Then, maybe once a week I'll have anywhere from 6-12 birds.  

I do not have many Black-headed Grosbeaks either.  I've counted just 3 males and 2 females.
