I only made one slight change, and that was the eye. I changed it from black to dark brown.
Let's continue our Black-headed Grosbeak celebration.
This guy was enjoying a bath.
The males have a very pretty song. I've been told that it sounds like a 'rollicking Robin" as a way to help recognize it. You can hear it here under the Typical Voice link.

I think this is my favorite photo for this year thus far.
I love the lime green of the leaves and background.
And while my stitch is of a male, we need to acknowledge that there are female Black-headed Grosbeaks too.
They are pretty birds too.
The males often have a drink.
The birds have that characteristic large seed-crunching beak.
Here's the beak doing what it does best - cracking a seed open.

And speaking of Grosbeaks...
This has been a weird year for Evening Grosbeaks. I am worried that my population peaked back on May 7th. Since then I've heard them most days, but it is rare that I see them. And if I do, it is only one or two birds.

You've captured some beautiful pictures of your garden birds and that is a lovely stitched version also.

Hello, lucky you to have both the Black-headed Grosbeak and the Evening Grosbeak! Awesome photos! Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!
I hadn't realized grosbeaks were such pretty birds (I think their name had something to do with my misconception!!). I do love your latest finish, Beth!
Very beautiful and characteristic bird.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for teaching me about yet another bird. These look like sweet lil' things. You're invited to share your outdoor post on this week's Maple Hill Hop!
