Very pretty fall colors.
Remember when I had oodles of Cedar Waxwings?
Now I have oodles of Pine Siskins.
I counted over fifty in this 'in flight' photo.
The fly in a group and swarm and swirl and land together.
Where there is one Pine Siskin, there are several more.
They adorn the small fir trees near the feeders.
They are extremely social and continually talk among themselves.
Crowded seating is not a problem.
They are devouring my sunflower seed chip and the niger seed too.
They may look like dull Basic Brown Birds, but they have quite a bit of yellow as well. I included this photo as the bird in flight on the left shows off all the yellow feathers.
When they are at the feeders there is constant motion as birds come and go.
Zoom, swish, flit.
At rest you can observe the bits of yellow on the wings.
I wonder what the bird on the right is saying.
Pine Siskins are nomadic and while they may be present one year, they are often absent the next. So I intend to enjoy my Pine Siskin Winter!

very cool to have Pine Siskins visiting.
Very cool! I love Pine Siskins!
I like that PS finish - thankful indeed!
So sweet x
Yesterday, crossing my yard to my new neighbors', I disturbed quite a large group of small, brownish birds. I figured finches, but I didn't get a good look... MAYBE they were Pine Siskins! It had been raining so my feeders were on my porch. I went and put them out again, but have not seen any birds since. Sad face...
Love the stitching finish. Pine Siskens, huh? What fun!
That's the perfect name for the little stitch. Very cute! I wish we had some Pine Siskin. Mr. or Mrs. Squirrel is driving us crazy this year. All the birds are being chased way from the feeder!
