A Turkey and Quail

Design - "Turkey Sampler"
Chart - "Thanksgiving Trio"
Designer - Twisted Threads
Fabric - 28 count Light Mocha Cashel
Fibers - WDW - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 24 November 2014
Completed - 27 November 2014

I like the simplicity of this design. It uses just three colors of WDW. The turkey reminds me of those featured on the Thanksgiving platter.

I know quail are game birds and considered to be 'good eating', but I just cannot imagine killing such pretty birds.

I have the smallest group of Winter Regulars that I can remember.

There are only 8 or nine birds.

On cold mornings the birds puff up to keep warm.

They are split pretty evenly between males and females which bodes well come springtime.

I like the Thanksgiving Sampler also. The border reminds me of Indian Corn.

A really fine finish, Beth--I've never seen that design before. It has the perfect combination of fall colors... Great photos of the quail, too!

Great little turkey finish! I really like the tuft on top of the quails' heads! So pert!

I like the turkey sampler that you stitched.

Love the stitched turkey! And I have to say the quail around your house might be my second favorite birds.

I agree, that simple design is so pretty! So are the quails!

That is a lovely turkey. It does remind me of a turkey platter, also! It's very vintage looking.
Those quail are so round and puffy looking! They look like they're warm and fluffy! Such pretty feathers.

Another turkey finish! You're right, it does remind one of the turkey platter. I can't imagine hunting quail either. I've never seen a quail so I really enjoy your photos. Lucky you that you get to watch them every day.
