March's Ireland (1979) & July's Delphinium

Here it is - finished!

Design - "July's Delphinium"
Designer - Cottage Garden Samplings
Fabric - 32 count Lambswool linen
Fibers - GAST & WDW & DMC - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 12 January 2014
Completed - 10 March 2014

The delphiniums were a little 'fiddly' to stitch, but it was worth it as they turned out very life-like. This series continues to delight me month after month!

Off we go to continue our visit to Ireland circa 1979.
(Warning Picture Heavy!)

Rock of Cashel

Hore Abbey

Shannon River

Blarney Castle

Christ Church Cathedral - Dublin

Curraughs delivering to the Aran Isles

The cliffs of Inishmore

Connemara Lake - Sheffery Hills

The 12 Bens from Ben Leitni

Irish farmer

Dingle Cowboy

First Communion - Dublin

Lace curtain window - Dublin

River Liffey - Dublin

Botanic Gardens - Dublin

Goodness - that was some time ago - January through the end of May in 1979. One of the coldest and wettest winters on record for Ireland, thus all my dark, gloomy gray photos! We were thrilled when spring finally made its presence known in May.

I like the eerie greenish haze of the fog in the image of Blarney Castle. I could daydream about the faeries and the mythical creatures there about. LOL Beautiful shots...all.

Happy St.Patricks Day!

Did you get to kiss the Blarney stone? looks a bit precarious to me from what I have seen of it on tv!

Great photos.

I love the Irish photos. Your pictures show Ireland the way I picture it. Plus your July project is just beautiful! I do love delphiniums!! I wish I had seen these before I did the Word Plays. These are so pretty! I do think I'll stitch a few and see how it goes.
