Let it Snow...or Rain....

Design - "Let it Snow" (Jingles)
Designer - Lizzie Kate
Fabric - 32 count natural linen
Fibers - WDW - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 6 January 2014
Completed - 7 January 2014

The stitching theme this month appears to be All Things Snow - Mittens and Snowmen anyway.

We missed out on the most recent round of the Arctic Air Blast.  Our rain finally returned with some vigor and the temperatures are in the 40F range.

The birds are pretty active - they like the mild temperatures and the rain dose not appear to phase them.

Speaking of birds, I do have a new feeder to show off.
I have been SO very jealous of the Pileated Woodpecker activity Barb has been enjoying!  Look and you'll see why!  Barb has Pileated Woodpeckers coming to her suet feeders!

So here's my new suet feeder.  It has a 'tail rest' which the larger woodpeckers are supposed to appreciate.

While the Flickers did not seem to mind contorting to eat suet, I'm hoping they'll hop on board the new feeder.

The feeder is large enough for 2 'cakes'. I put in a seed cake and a suet cake.
So far, the only bird using it is my little Downy Woodpecker. He certainly did not need the 'tail rest' and interestingly seemed most taken with the seed cake.  I do know that with different kinds of food available, I do attract different kinds of birds.  Now I'm dreaming of  Hairy Woodpeckers, and Sapsuckers, and yes, Pileateds!

I have the smaller version of that feeder. I haven't put it out here yet, but when it was up at our Arizona home the Gila woodpecker loved it. :-) I love your new finish. I have that one in my to stitch pile.:-) I hope you get lots of woodpeckers! :-)

Oh yeah...the tail prop will do it. Better keep a spare suet handy because my pileateds wipe out a cake in nothing flat. They also hang on my peanut feeder.

Happy Day!!

So exciting about your new feeder! I'll be interested to watch who comes to eat.

Good luck Beth, our friend was at the suet again today! We have also been very busy. I counted 15 juncos all at the same time on the deck. It was making the Annas very nervous. He could barely eat worrying about that gang of other birds.

Temps at 40F would feel tropical right now! That's quite a fancy feeder you have and I hope the woodpeckers find it appealing too.

A sweet little finish. There are so many Let It Snow charts out there, but is there also a chart saying Let It Rain? That would be one for me as I prefer rain to snow, lol.

Just finished reading your last few posts and as always, you have the prettiest bird and critter photos. So amazing to see what is running around at night with your critter cam! And your stitches are lovely as well! Love that monthly series ~ I recently saw one somewhere where the entire series is stitched on one piece of fabric!
