Sunny Sunday

This Cottage Garden Sampling's stitch says something about "the smell of summer..." and Sunday gave a good impression if not summer, then spring.

All of you suffering from one storm after another probably won't want to hear about my Sunday.  The day was beyond lovely - sunny and 58F!  I worked outside all afternoon without even a light coat or a sweater.  Back in early December I moved most of my plants into the shop as we had snow and Arctic cold temperatures.  I finally got around to wheel-barrowing most of the plants to the Back Patio and the greenhouse once again.  I still have about six more loads of plants awaiting ferrying.

We did have another frosty morning.
Padma had a face-off with the deer...

...before deciding that retreat was the better part of valor.

I now have two gray squirrels at the feeders.

I know they can be a nuisance, but honestly their antics and acrobatics amuse me.
The jays do not find the squirrels to be as entertaining as I do.

We are in agreement that we don't much care for Starlings.

That's a view also shared by my Flickers!
This female is confronting a cheeky starling and saying, "No room at the suet for you!"

I have had a couple of male Flickers too.

I think their red markings look as though their lipstick has been applied with a heavy hand!

We have "greedy grethchens" in the form of cowbirds and grey doves around here that like to hog up the feeders. So disrespectful of the others. LOL Now that we no longer have large dogs roaming around the house, the squirrels and chipmunks are venturing back into the yard. I have seen a few more and more each year.

I had no idea the deer would put up with the cats being so close...and vice versa!

I adore squirrels even if they are a pain at some feeders. I really love the videos of clever squirrels subverting "squirrel-proof" feeders. =)

I don't know if I've said it yet, but your bird photography has gotten really good.

The flickers never fail to give me pleasure when you post about them. The red flashes alongside those gorgeous feather markings are just so bonnie.

Lucky girl, those temps on Sunday sound like heaven. We are closed again today (Monday) due to the bitter cold and wind chills.

Your Wip looks good. Looks very colorful and cheery. Makes you think spring in the dead of winter. Schools are all closed around here today too and I think they will be tomorrow by the sounds of it. We are ready for spring!

What a cute WIP, very bright and cheerful. I think we are spoiled by the weather. We are suppose to get rain tonight and we do need it.

I have no comments about your warm weather other than you're so lucky, lol. I can't wait til I can be comfortable outside without a coat!

Won't go into the weather... your Summer stitch is coming along well, and looks great! Just what we need to see in the dead of winter! Hugs!
