It's Tuesday and that means it's time to share 'Garden Stuff' at "The Garden Party" over at An Oregon Cottage.
This week I have some pretty dahlia photos to share.
Saturday evening, we drove out to Veneta, Oregon to visit Eugene and Wendy, the owners of River's Dahlias.
Besides having fulltime jobs, the couple found the time to plant and care for over 6,000 dahlias this summer. 400 different varieties.
I wandered from row to row...
...oohing and aahing.
I cannot imagine all the hard work that went into this kind of productivity.
Eugene and Wendy grow organically, so no pestisides are used at River's Dahlias.
You might think there'd be a 'bug problem", and while there were some cucumber beetles, for the most part the bugs are kept under control by all the frogs that like the damp, cool soil.
Also helping out - Garden Spiders!
Dahlias are such great autumn performers!
The Lane County Dahlia Society's 50th Anniversary Show will be this weekend at the Lane County Convention Center. You can click here for more information.
River's Dahlias also has a website and a presence on Facebook too.
You can immerse yourself in "Dahlianess"!

Wonderful flowers. The spiders outside is ok but inside... oh no!

I can't believe how many different varieties there are of Dahlias and so diverse in the look.
