Stitching Up the Christmas Tree

Here's a little inspiration for everyone who has yet to put up their tree.

Design - "Cranberry Tree Tin" (kit)
Designer - Sam Sarah Design Company
Fabric - 30 count WDW Honeysuckle linen
Fibers - Crescent Colors - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 10 December 2012
Completed - 11 December 2012

The rains have ceased for a couple of days, let's enjoy a blue sky and take a walk.

See, I told you a blue sky!

Though I have to admit, it is foggy down by the Big Creek.
Much of the Vine Maple still has not shed its dead leaves.

The ground is littered with leaves and limbs for the past rain/wind storms.

But on a blue sky day the littlest of birds, the chickadees and bushtits, are busy working the moss and lichen high up in the trees.  If you stand still and listen you can hear their high-pitched chirps.

By December the Hazelnuts have set their catkins.

One of the prettiest trees in December is the Madrone.  It retains its glossy green leaves and lovely red/brown bark throughout the year.

Structure can be interesting too.  I like the Dogwoods this time of year.  The angular branches all end with a round cap - the fruit - as yet uneaten.

And here's a pretty picture in brown, tan, and taupe.  Dried grasses, Queen Anne's Lace, and Rabbit's Foot Clover.
I hope you enjoyed the sunshine and today's walk.
