A small covey of 10-11 California Quail comes by a couple of times each day.
As is typical there are far more females than males.
Here are a couple of females.
A mixed group of 1 male and four females.
The females were posturing - stretching their necks.
I don't think I've seen that behavior before.
Then off into the brush they go.

Your quail group looks good. I wonder if they were stretching and posturing because they sensed a predator or needed a good stretch.
