Perfect Perch

The grids on the deer fence are apparently the Perfect Perch...

...for a wonderful female Western Tanager to sit upon.

Both my Dad and I were able to watch her a couple of mornings ago.

What a delight.

So she'll be heading back to southern Mexico / northern Central America for the fall / winter.

I never take sightings like this for granted.

They are truly a gift.

And a much appreciated one.

Not to be out-done...

A male Wilson's Warbler alighted on the same Perfect Perch.

Another bright yellow bird - but much smaller.

I like this pose.

Then he flitted off into  blackberry thicket...

...and a stand of young Douglas fir.
