Bits and Pieces

Sometimes I think the hardest part of a new blog post is coming up with a title!
These photos are rather random, thus the bits and pieces.

My male Rufous Humming bird has already left - migrating south once again. So the male Anna's once again rules the roost.

Young immature birds can be maddening to ID.
This is a young Rufous Towhee.

He looks very little like a mature adult bird.

Yes, it's well into July and the American Goldfinches are finally hard at gathering nesting material and working on their nests.

The female grabbed a nice wad and both birds flew off to help with construction duties. 

For courting colors it is hard to top a male Purple Finch.

He's dressed in his raspberry finest.

That purple finch is so pretty. I think he is more colorful than the house finches.
