Weekly Woodpecker Report

I managed the littlest bit more stitching on my Black-headed Grosbeak.
I do hope to be able to share a finish or to next week.

On to the woodpecker.

Here's my female Hairy Woodpecker.

She can look long and lean or short and plump.

The male Hairy Woodpecker has taken to drinking out of my bird bath.

In this photo it looks as though he has brought some lichen with him to the feeder.

Here's my Acorn Woodpecker couple.

They are often at the front feeders together.

The female has red and black atop her head.

Here's a female Red-shafted Northern Flicker.

Here's another on a blustery day.

The male with his mustache.

I thought this was an especially good photo.

And the week included a quick glimpse of a Pileated Woodpecker!

What a wealth of woodpeckers!> So lucky to see the pileated woodpecker. Love their crazy laugh. I am also working on Beth's Bird cross stitches! I don't think we have the evening Grosbeak here in the NE? I have only seen one rosy breasted grosbeak.

Wonderful photos. Did I tell you that we had a Flicker pecking at our bathroom window for several days? He or she has finally given up. We don't know which it was as it flew off every time we tried to get a look. It really made quite a racket!!

I've missed a lot of your recent posts Beth, I'm so busy with caring duties at the moment - I was lucky enough to catch this post and love the flicker photo that you too like.
